In this work from 2025, Cole Sternberg deploys a monumental composition in two panels, produced in acrylic and watercolor on linen. Measuring 198.1 x 584.2 cm, “Pathways Running Over Cliffs” evokes the power of the American natural landscapes of the California coast, dear to the artist. Imaginary paths wind above cliffs bathed in light, in a vibrant palette mixing aqueous transparencies and flat acrylic areas. The grandeur of the format invites total immersion in this space between earth and sky. The gesture is both lyrical and controlled, the signature of a practice which constantly questions the border between abstraction and landscape figuration. Unique piece.
