Altered offers a process of deconstruction and liberation from established conditioning. This monumental 165x220cm work embodies Vasmoulakis' philosophy that unlearning is essential to creative and spiritual evolution. The Greek artist deploys a rich visual vocabulary here, mixing gestural abstraction and symbolic references. The surface, worked with oil and beeswax, reveals layers of meaning which are gradually revealed, inviting a contemplative and repeated look. Nourished by his studies at the Athens School of Fine Arts and the UMPRUM Academy in Prague, as well as his immersion in urban subcultures and psychedelia, Vasmoulakis creates works that question our perceptual certainties.
