Element, 2022
Element is part of César Bardoux's ongoing research into fluid materiality and the transformations of matter. This monumental 280x180 cm canvas explores intermediate states, where form emerges from the formless in a dialogue between manual execution and digital simulation. Oil painting, a traditional technique par excellence, is used here to translate the textures of hypermodernity and the amniotic fluidity of digital technology. The artist's characteristic translucent volumes evoke a post-human phenomenology, where matter remains in perpetual metamorphosis, navigating between ancestral alchemy and contemporary science fiction. The work embodies this fertile tension between ancient and innovative temporalities which defines Bardoux's universe.
