New Self Narratives questions the construction of identity in the contemporary era. In this 145x205cm work, Alexandros Vasmoulakis deploys a fragmented visual narrative where the boundaries between figuration and abstraction dissolve to reveal new narrative possibilities. The artist explores how spiritual symbols and psychedelic influences can redefine our understanding of self. The mixed oil-beeswax technique allows subtle transitions between areas of clarity and ambiguity, a metaphor for the complexity of modern identity. Coming from Vasmoulakis' multidisciplinary training between Athens and Prague, this work demonstrates a cosmopolitan approach to contemporary art, where urban subcultures dialogue with pictorial traditions.
