7M Chair

7M Chair is Ara Thorose's most celebrated creation, acquired by the Cranbrook Art Museum for its permanent collection in 2021. This iconic chair is comprised of seven graceful curving gestures of a soft cylinder, each contributing structural support and visual interest. The form evokes gestural writing or musical notation, frozen in three-dimensional space. Custom fabric wraps each curve with precision, creating a continuous surface that highlights the sculptural nature of the piece. The dimensions - 30.5cm wide, 45.7cm deep, 76.2cm high - have been meticulously calibrated to offer comfort and sculptural presence. Weighing 15.9kg, the chair has substantial gravity that anchors its surroundings. Custom-made in Thorose's New York workshop, each 7M Chair embodies its commitment to artisanal excellence and design innovation.
