This 2025 work continues Ara Thorose's investigation of polyethylene as a pictorial medium, developing a visual vocabulary that oscillates between gestural abstraction and structured composition. The dimensions of 76.2 × 101.6cm create a substantial visual field that engages the viewer in a direct encounter with the materiality and presence of the work. The depth of 5cm elevates the piece from the wall, creating an object quality that blurs the boundaries between painting and sculpture. This categorical ambiguity reflects Thorose's interdisciplinary approach to art-making, where distinctions between design, sculpture, and painting become fluid and productive. The polyethylene surface captures and reflects light in ways that change throughout the day, making the work dynamic and responsive to its surroundings.
Manufacturing time: 10-12 week(s)
Each piece is handcrafted using natural materials, giving it its own distinct character. Due to the handmade nature, slight variations in color, texture, and finish may occur from piece to piece. These variations are inherent to the artisan process and add to the uniqueness of each creation.
