Rock Deformation
Rock Deformation, an expressive sculpture by Leo Orta, was born from a fascination with geological processes and the way natural forces sculpt matter through time. Created as part of a broader exploration of organic shapes and contrasting textures, this work captures a moment of transformation, a movement frozen in stone and metal. Leo Orta expresses his interest in "the fragile balance between the hardness of materials and the fluidity of forms, seeking to reveal a beauty hidden in the apparent immobility of the rock." His work highlights the poetry of slow and relentless transformations. This sculpture combines natural and artificial elements, uniting rock, earth, and metal in a dynamic composition. The manufacturing process involved shaping earth and rock, then combining them with a metal structure that suggests upward movement.

The Anglo-Argentine artist Leo Orta lives and works in France, between Paris and Les Moulins. Graduated from the Design Academy Eindhoven in 2019, he explores the boundaries between art and design. His work questions human existence and social and emotional connections within communities and environments. He establishes connections between the subconscious and the imagination, using recycled materials and sustainable production methods. His works have been exhibited in numerous institutions, including the FRAC, the Van Abbemuseum and the Stedelijk Museum.
