Tweedledum

Tweedledum by Leo Orta, is a sculptural bench that challenges the conventions of traditional furniture. Emerging from an exploration around organic form and tactile perception, this piece, created in 2023, is inspired by Lewis Carroll's eccentric characters Tweedledum and Tweedledee, embodying their puffy nature and playful interaction. The title thus evokes a formal duality and an invitation to conviviality. Leo Orta explains: "I seek to create objects that challenge, that arouse raw emotion and invite a new form of interaction. Design must be a sensory experience, a conversation with the material." Made from dense polyurethane foam, then coated in a deep blue textured resin, Tweedledum features a unique tactile surface, inviting to touch. The seat, hand-woven with resistant blue rope, contrasts with the robustness of the legs, creating a striking visual balance.
